The first certification a smartphone must have before its launch is Singapore’s IMDA. This authority has just approved the mobile device under the model number: M1902F1G (many believe that this will be the Xiaomi Mi 9). Another device has also been approved with the model number M18F6LG which is also mentioned as Redmi 7. The listing lacks any information on the specifications of the Redmi 7 but it reveals that it will be released not only in China but also in international markets.

What can we expect from the Redmi 7?

Xiaomi CEO, Xiaomi CEO confirmed that Redmi 7 series will be priced between 700 Yuan (29,000 Ft) and 800 Yuan (33,000 Ft)This will be a lower-end phone compared to the Redmi Note 7 introduced in China with a starting price of 999 Yuan (42,000 Ft). According to speculations, the Redmi 7 series will include Redmi 7A, Redmi 7 and Redmi 7 Pro.  These are only rumours.

The rumours are based on former versions of these devices such as  Redmi 6A,  Redmi 6 and Redmi 6 Pro. Last year, a video on YouTube revealed the conception of the Redmi 7 Pro. The Redmi 7 Pro features a waterdrop-style notch. Since it is a Pro model, it may feature a dual camera setup only its resolution will be bigger than its predecessor’s. The images so far are only Photoshop images, real device does not exist. (Redmi does not use an orange box any more)

As for its hardware, we have no idea whether it comes out with MTK SoC or Qualcomm entry-level SoC. We hope that SD625 will retire forever.
We have no info about the launch of the Redmi 7. The Redmi 6 series arrived in Q2 2018. However, they did not wait until the jubilee with model change, perhaps the Redmi 7 will be launched in Q1 this year. Redmi as a separate entity may change its strategy and we can be surprised in the following weeks.
MWC can also be an opportunity to launch something new. It will turn out in 2 weeks’ time ;)
