A new product has been added to the list of Xiaomi Smart Home devices. Once again, a smart door lock has been announced, which is a little different from the previous ones.
The Xiaomi MiJia Smart Lock Zelkova a new door lock that can be retrofitted. The security system is constantly being improved, with a variety of applications already covered. A Zelkova a Chinese company that has received $1.5 million in funding for the new smart lock project through their own community financing system, under an agreement with Xiaomi.
The new product offers a range of opening possibilities. You can open it with a code, with your fingerprint, and via Bluetooth on your smartphone. Code unlocking is widely used, because if you set a six-digit code (which you enter on the digital capacitive keypad), you can let anyone in.
With fingerprint unlocking, as with previous solutions, you need to grip the handle so that your thumb is touching the sensor at the base of the handle.
The easiest and fastest way to unlock is via Bluetooth. The system works like a car garage door opener. When you approach the door, the wheel turns green or red, indicating whether the door can be opened. All this is handled by a proprietary MJSC SoC. 
The lock has its own internal battery, which can be quickly recharged via the MicroUSB port on the bottom of the lock.
The Xiomiomi Mijia Smart Lock Zelkova also has a manual lock on the inside, so you won't get stuck in case of a malfunction.
The app is compatible with IOS 9.0 and Android 4.4 and above.
The Xiaomi Mijia Zelkova Smart Lock is primarily recommended for hotels. This way hotel owners can get a strong security system at a low price.
The price is 1299 yuan or 165 €. It will go on sale in January.
