After several months of silence, Xiaomi broke the silence. Xiaomi confirmed that both the Xiaomi Mi 8 Lite and the Redmi Note 7 uses the same Corning Gorilla Glass. At the launch of the Mi 8 Lite, we only had guesses if Mi 8 Lite will really get a plastic back or some tempered glass cover.  It was not indicated officially, the specifications were not confirmed officially. Now, however, that the Redmi Note 7 gets more attention, and every community portal is evaluting the resistance of the glass, the Mi 8 Lite was reduced to background. It is also expected that its demand in China will reduce as the Redmi Note 7 is already available there which with its similar price tag a better offer than the budgeted Mi 8 that is the Mi 8 Lite equipped with the same SoC but less efficient camera and smaller battery.

The Corning Gorilla Glass 5 is the latest development and it is more durable than any other products so far. Of course, we hear this when a new device is launched but  it turns out only when it is used regularly.

So, GG5 is four times more resistant than other solutions used previously.

Challanges in kitchen go on, the use as a chopping board of Mi 8 Lite after the Redmi Note 7. We could see as hard-shelled, heavy fruits were fallen on Note 7 and they were used as nutcrackers and roller-skaters.

Wang Chuan Weibo post

The Mi 8 Lite equipped with selfie-shooting 24MP Sony IMX576 sensor serves as great kitchen utensil as the Redmi Note 7.

I would be curious of the number of sold phones in a few months’ time, which model will collect more fans.
