The US space agency (NASA) has selected 10 out of 12,000 applicants to take part in the future mission to the Moon.

The lucky ones will follow a two-year basic training course, at the end of which they will selected from those whose achievements merit a trip to the Moon on NASA's Artemis mission.

He was selected:

  • Deniz Burnham, a 36-year-old lieutenant in the US Navy Reserve, is also an engineer,
  • Marcos Berríos, a 37-year-old Major in the Air Force,
  • Jack Hathaway, a 39-year-old commander in the US Navy,

Originally scheduled to land on the moon in 2024, there have been growing signs over time that the target date is not sustainable. A recent report from NASA's Office of the Inspector General report in 2026 at the earliest can be achieved the next moon landing.

The Hungarian government has also announced the second Hungarian astronaut programme, which aims to have another Hungarian astronaut in space by 2024, and on board the International Space Station (ISS). Hungarian to Orbit is a partnership between NASA and Axiom Space, and the selection process started at the end of October.
