Today has nothing interesting happened but this week has a surprise up its sleeve such as Mi 9 SE and perhaps the Global version is coming this week. What has Xiaomi been trolling, then? They compared their latest flagship phone, the Mi 9 with the Huawei’s latest P30 phone in a funny way.
It is not so funny but makes us think, althouth those who are not aware of prices, believe it for the first sight and only later think. The listing is not complete as it does not include everything but we are filling the gaps below. Comparing the most important features, we can decide which one is better but if we see the prices, it is not a question which one to choose. We should not see the Hungarian circumstances as Xiaomi is not concentrating only on us. In important markets such as in Spain, France, Italy, it is ridiculously big difference. However, let’s see the other hardware differences as the listing did not contain that the display of the Mi 9 is AMOLED, which is much better quality than P30’s simple OLED display. On the contrary, Huawei is much better at its battery capacity, which is 3,600 mAh compared to Mi 9’s 3,300 mAh, but it can be improved with the quick charge of Mi 9 in no time at all. Besides, P30 has 6GB memory in the same way as Mi 9, which is not surely used by EMUI, but at the moment I cannot judge this in an objective way. If some tech blog have both later, they must make out a deeper comparison between the two phones.
Examining the features of the two phones further, P30 is also better at its Dolby Atmos support and loudspeakers plus 3.5mm Jack. Not to mention its IP53 classification, which means:
5: Dust resistant
3: Splash resistant
Due to its smaller display P30’s ppi score is larger (422), but due to Mi 9 (403) AMOLED technology, it is not an advantage. It is still not the end, as P30’s storage can be extended with MicroSD card up to 256GB, and Mi 9’s cannot. I would not go into details of image quality as there will be comparisons later but rear triple camera is for Mi 9 while front selfie shooter is for P30.
All in all, if I had to choose between the two, of course, as a Xiaomi fan, I would choose Mi 9 but for those who have not committed themselves to neither of them, not only the price but the outlook of the two phones can be relevant. If we get to know the real test results, then we can decide which one to buy based on the information. In Hungary it will only be available in April.
