Xiaomi released its sales results in the first quarter of 2018. Entry-level smartphones recorded more sales.
Among other manufacturers, Xiaomi also released its official numbers. According to this, the company sold out 28,431 million units, which is an incredible performance.
Income based on smartphone sales accounts for 23,239 billion yuan ($3.6 million which is equal to 981,180,000 HUF), which is amazing besides the plenty of other product categories even with extremely low price margin. The profit margin of Smart Home products, clothes, lifestyle, food, vehicles is not so low, so we do not have to worry about how the manufacturer can pay back the raised loan. CDR news reveal that from January to March 2018, Xiaomi’s research and development expenses were 1.104 billion yuan representing 3.21% of total income. In 2017, R&D expenses were were 3.151 billion yuan representing only 2.75% of total revenues. It is also worth knowing that Xiaomi launched and sold smartphones in various price segments in the first quarter of this year. Entry-level phones are still the best sellers of the company as more than 11 million units of smartphones were sold with a price lower than 799 yuan ($125), whose total revenue accounted for 5,422 million yuan.
The flagship smartphones with a price of 3000 yuan ($468) or more recorded extremely low sales, only a total of 496 thousand units were sold which generated an income of 1,315 million yuan. In contrast, the Redmi 5A modells whose prices are between 800 yuan ($126) and 1,299 yuan ($205), sold 10,909 million units generating a total income of 8,861 million yuan. Remember, that these sales refer to the first quarter of 2018, so the sales of MIX 2s and Mi8 trio are not yet included. Sales of the Redmi 6 series and the upcoming Mi Max 3 which has undergone the 3C certification will probably raise sales and until the end of this year we can count on some more records.
