Yesterday, we announced that details of the Xiaomi Mi7 and Mi Mix 2s had emerged from the leaked firmware files (ROM), and today, after yesterday's news from XDA Developers, we have again seen details of the upcoming Xiaomi Mi Max 3.

The first-generation Mi Max has a 4,850 mAh battery, while the Mi Max 2 has a higher capacity 5,300 mAh battery. Mi Max 3 firmware files reveal that it comes with a 5,500 mAh behemoth battery.

In terms of processor, the predecessors were based on the Snapdragon 625 and Snapdragon 650 chipset, so it's only a guess that the Mi Max 3 will probably get the Snapdragon 660. But there's no indication of that from the files.

According to the rumours, the screen size and ratio will be FHD+ and 18:9, which is in line with the trend, but nothing is known about the size, but the fingerprint reader will be on the back.

However, what is interesting is that in some lines you can find wireless charging, this was found in the screen lock apk file. The lines are about stopping wireless charging, switching to wireless charging and setting the correct position.

Xiaomi joined the Wireless Power Consortium last year, which meant that its upcoming top phones will get this feature and support Qi wireless charging. We knew that the first such phone would be the Mi7, but it's already been revealed that the Mi Max 3 will be able to do so too. There's also a graphic in the help file showing how to place your device correctly on the charging unit.

The back of the Mi Max 3 is expected to feature a Sony IMX363 or a S5K217 + S5K5E8 Samsung dual camera module. The front of the phone will feature an S6K4H7 Samsung sensor and OmniVision OV2281 iris scanner. Since the lines related to iris recognition are only written in a note, it is not sure if it will be included yet, but it is prepared for the feature.

The front auxiliary module referred to here is the OmniVision 2281, which "uses a 1.12 micron pixel PureCel technology for precise and reliable for iris recognition for smartphones, tablets and notebooks" on the official site according to.

As for the software, the firmware suggests that the device is running Android 8.1 Oreo, in particular the first API level set in the build properties was 25, which means that this device launched with Android 7.1 Nougat. It's possible that this device could debut with Android 8.1, but it's also possible that it's a developer ROM and the stable release will be an older version of Android. Let's not get our hopes up.

Other bits and pieces are included, such as the device having a dual SIM tray, support for dual SD cards, IR control, LEDs for notifications, Dirac audio, Qualcomm's aptX and aptX HD Bluetooth audio codecs, but unfortunately no NFC. It's possible that it will also have a stereo speaker (although the firmware isn't clear in 100%) and something called a front-facing "remosic" sensor.
