The launch of the Xiaomi 14 series took place on 26 October and we were in for quite a surprise. The Xiaomi 14 brought many surprises and many improvements compared to the previous generation.
Xiaomi 14
The Xiaomi 14 is a compact flagship with high-end specifications. It takes the popular flat design further, with an unobtrusive square camera module at the back. The device is IP68 dust and water resistant, and has a metal frame for rigidity.
The display features the Xiaomi 14 Huaxing C8 AMOLED display, a collaboration between Xiaomi and TCL. Its 6.36-inch screen has 1.5K resolution, 120 Hz LTPO refresh rate and 3,000 nits peak brightness. It has an embedded fingerprint sensor and supports HDR 10+, HLG and Dolby Vision formats. The display is protected from scratches by Xiaomi's proprietary Longjing glass.
On the photography front, Xiaomi boasts 14 Leica camera systems. The phone features a Vario Summilux aspherical lens that offers better imaging compared to the Summicron on last year's Xiaomi 13. It features a 50 MP Light Hunter 900 main sensor with OIS, a 50 MP ultra-wide lens and a 50 MP OIS telephoto lens unit. The sensors have focal lengths of 23 mm, 14 mm and 75 mm, respectively, and have apertures ranging from f/1.6 to f/2.2. The front of the phone features a 32 MP selfie camera. The Xiaomi 14 is equipped with Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers and a 4-microphone that captures audio 360 degrees while recording video.
Under the hood, the Xiaomi 14 is equipped with Qualcomm's flagship Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It comes with up to 16GB LPDDR5x RAM and 1TB UFS 4 storage. The phone has a heat dissipation system that uses a gas-liquid separation channel. The device is powered by a 4,610 mAh battery that supports 90 W wired, 50 W wireless and 10 W reverse wireless charging. In terms of software, it is the first phone from the company to feature an all-new AOSP-based HyperOS operating system fut.

Xiaomi 14 Pro
The Xiaomi 14 Pro isn't as compact as its smaller sibling, the Xiaomi 14, but it shares the same design cues, including an angular design and a large, protruding square camera module on the back. The phone is IP68 certified, making it resistant to dust and water. The screen is protected against scratches and accidental damage only by Xiaomi's proprietary Longjing glass.
As for the display, the Xiaomi 14 Pro boasts a 6.7-inch OLED 12-bit screen with curved edges and remarkably narrow bezels of 1 mm. The display features 2K resolution, 120 Hz LTPO refresh rate and an in-screen fingerprint scanner. The screen offers a peak brightness of 3,000 nits, the highest among smartphones. For sound, it is equipped with Dolby Atmos dual stereo speakers.
On the optics front, the Xiaomi 14 Pro features a triple rear camera with legendary Leica camera technology. It features a Light Hunter 900 50 MP main sensor with a focal length of 23 mm. The second is also a 50 MP , ultra-wide angle lens with a focal length of 14 mm. The third is also 50 MP, with a telephoto lens and a focal length of 75 mm. It has a variable aperture, and both the main and telephoto lenses support OIS. The phone promises to open the camera quickly and take a picture in 0.8 seconds. It can record up to 8K videos. For selfies, the Xiaomi 14 Pro, while only using a 32-megapixel front-facing camera.
The Xiaomi 14 Pro, under the hood, is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. It comes with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage. The phone comes with a 4,880 mAh capacity battery that supports 120 W fast wired, 50 W wireless and 10 W reverse wireless charging. Out of the box, the Xiaomi 14 Pro features the company's latest AOSP-based Coming with HyperOS, which offers new design and features.
