[UPDATE] Xiaomi 13 or Xiaomi 14? Are they skipping a number again?

Well, this morning another shocking piece of news has hit the web, or rather pictures of the box of the new Xiaomi flagship phone. They miss a version number again and Xiaomi 14 is coming?

A picture of a box containing boxes of phones has been leaked. One of them is face up, with Xiaomi 14 written neatly on it. The small lettering underneath is not visible, but the LEICA logo is clearly visible. And of course the MI logo in the top right corner. But what? How? Xiaomi 14????

I have enlarged it and examined it in a "photo booth" and I really think it is a real picture. I mean, what's on it, not edited afterwards, is a real box. Plus, it has Xiaomi 14 on the side, so it's either a very cleverly done fake box or it's real. But there's something else...

A familiar image to many, this is the screenshot of the Settings - About phone page. It's taken on a Xiaomi 14 phone and everything looks right. The make, type, memory, processor, MIUI and model number. This is all correct based on the info that has already been leaked. But as many of us know, this page can be rewritten by a competent person as they wish. We've seen it before. He doesn't edit it afterwards, he rewrites things in the system.

It wouldn't be the first time Xiaomi has skipped a version number on the main phone line. Back in the day, the Xiaomi Mi 7 was left out because the version number of the phones was aligned with the company's 8-year anniversary. So it became the Xiaomi Mi 8. Now it looks like it will be adjusted to the MIUI version, so maybe every year, Xiaomi phones and MIUI versions will have the same number.

Although these pictures look very real, we should always be a little dubious about their authenticity. Until Xiaomi officially backs it up, we should just take it as a rumour.

Xiaomi 14 is FAKE after all! Wang Hua (Xiaomi China) confirmed that Xiaomi will not skip the Xiaomi 13 version number! So in December Xiaomi 13 will be released, not Xiaomi 14 phone.
