Privateer Space, a space debris removal company, aims to keep space safe and accessible for humanity.

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak is not resting on his laurels at 70, as the star engineer embarks on a new venture to clean up space of cosmic debris orbiting the Earth. Wozniak said goodbye to Apple back in 1985 and has since gone on to found numerous new companies, including the world's first universal remote switch, which can be used to connect any kind of for TV or video can be used for.

The latest idea from the electrical engineer known in the tech world as Woz is a company called Privateer Space, which is not hiding the fact that it wants to tackle a relatively new but more problematic phenomenon: space junk. Woz shared the company's launch video on Twitter, which doesn't reveal much, but thanks to the startup Desktop Metal, the punchline was already in place. The 3D printing company's August launch in a statement mentions Woz as a partner, noting that the Apple co-founder is investing in a satellite company focused on observing and collecting things in space.

The problem of space debris has been getting more and more attention in recent years, so it's perhaps not so surprising that well-known figures in the tech world are also raising the issue. Alongside Wozniak, Elon Musk spoke back in July about the potential of SpaceX's Starship spacecraft to fly around in space and pick up the unused junk that orbits there.
