Netflix has produced a five-part documentary series on the Inspiration4 mission around the Earth, made possible by Elon Musk's space company SpaceX.

Countdown: The Inspiration4 Mission to Space (Countdown: the Inspiration4 spaceflight), a documentary series covering three days of the mission and the months of preparation is now available on Netlix, providing an unprecedented insight into the history of the extraordinary space journey. The first two episodes were released on the streaming service on 6 September and four episodes are now available.

The team of civilians made history: on 19 September, at 1.6 a.m. Hungarian time, the are back the SpaceX space tourists who launched the Crew Dragon capsule into space at 2am Hungarian time on 16 September. Inspiration4 was the first in the history of spaceflight to involve only civilian astronauts, namely Jared Isaacman, 38, an American billionaire, Hayley Arceneaux, 29, a physician's assistant, Dr Sian Proctor, 51, a college professor, and Christopher Sembroski, 41, a software engineer.

The spaceflight was funded by Jared Isaacman, founder of the payment processing company Shift4, who bought the tickets and raised around $160 million for childhood cancer research Jude Children's Hospital. SpaceX founder and CEO Elon Musk matched the donation with an additional $50 million, reaching and surpassing the $200 million goal.
