In the last few weeks, or maybe even longer ago, this kind of bug has been occurring with domestic Xiaomi/Redmi/Poco phones. Even though we set up a custom ringtone, our own mp3 music, not the factory one, it still didn't ring when we were called. This is something brutally annoying!!! But there is a solution!!!!

MIUI Global

There are several options for setting a unique ringtone. You can set it simply in the Settings - Sounds & Vibrations menu or in the Music app for your favourite song, but it's also available in the File Manager, the Theme app, etc. Zedge app. But, all in vain! It turns out that most MIUIs have an interesting bug that prevents this from happening.

The error is caused by a lack of permissions on the "/data/system/ theme_magic/ringtones" folder, not the folder that stores our mp3 file. Unfortunately, we can only change this by opening the bootloader, rooting the phone and manually or using Magisk module to fix it. But this is not an option for everyone and yet we need that damn music??? here is the solution:

The solution is infinitely simple, follow the steps below:

  1. On the home page, long tap the Theme app icon
  2. Select the Application data menu
  3. In the Theme app data, tap the Delete data icon
  4. Open the Music app, select music, right 3 dots and set as ringtone. Or any other method.

Now your music will play when you are called! That's all. To set a new ringtone, you have to do the same thing again, because the Theme app will close that particular folder again and can't copy the custom ringtone there for the system to use.
