As we reported recently, no official information about the Chinese launch date of the Mi 10 series has been released so far, only the From Micron Technology's Weibo post can be concluded on 13 February. Due to the crown virus, the event will probably be streamed online, with more information expected on 7 February. However, the Spanish launch date is now a certainty, Xiaomi will - as things stand - be at MWC 2020 and will unveil this year's flagship pair, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro 5G models, at a press event on Sunday 23 February at 10:30am local time.

So this year, for the first time in Xiaomi's history, the Global version of its current flagship may be unveiled to the press at an offline event, while in China it will be shown in a closed session, online. Of course, the plan may change in the next two weeks or so, and the Chinese representation may not attend MWC, and the event will be hosted by a local representative via video conference link.

The Mi 10 could be the most expensive Xiaomi smartphone ever produced for the global market. The manufacturer is trying to shake off the "cheap chinese phone manufacturer", so that the Mi series can be taken more seriously in the premium segment.

A true premium product, without compromise

From this year onwards, Xiaomi is "letting go" with its pricing, i.e. not adjusting the phone to the price, but offering the best possible product. It does what its competitors do and creates the best smartphone on the market from the best components developed by other manufacturers, such as 90Hz-(can be pulled up to 120Hz) Samsung OLED display, Samsung and Sony sensors, Micron LPDDR5 DRAM-ja, the UFS3, the Snapdragon 865 the 5G chip, and wireless charging. The latter comes with the most powerful fast charging on the market, developed by the manufacturer, coupled with a larger battery and 65W of wired charging.

Xiaomi CEO wrote in response to a Weibo post: "I have lifted the price cap, instructed them to focus on product development."

So don't expect cheap prices, and we can say goodbye to 6GB of memory and 64GB of storage on Mi flagships. The Xiaomi Mi 10 will be what many of us expected from the manufacturer: a high-end smartphone that will be a worthy rival to Apple's iPhone, Chinese rivals Oppo/Vivo, even the latest Samsung and Huawei models.

Therefore, Mi becomes a true premium range and Redmi remains the true "people's phone" brand. The Redmi K30 Pro, the more powerful sibling of the Redmi K30, is arriving and could become a real "best value for money" brand can be.

Xiaomi has had good success in Europe over the past year, with last quarter of last year a became the second manufacturer In Spain, with a share of 231TTP3T and growth of 661TTP3T, while in other European countries it remained in fourth place with a growth rate above 2001TTP3T.

In 2020 we will see how sales develop, which will be greatly improved by the Redmi sub-brand, especially the well-priced 5G models.

Expected prices, variants

At the moment there is only speculation about the price of Mi 10. 4 versions of the Mi 10 (8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB), price 3499 yuan - 457 € (at Hungarian exchange rate 155e Ft), and between 3999 yuan and €523 (at Hungarian exchange rates 177e Ft).

The Mi 10 Pro versions of the same versions are expected (8/128GB, 8/256GB, 12/256GB and 12/512GB) the starting price is 3999 yuan (177e Ft) and 4899 yuan for the full version (216e Ft).
Of the four Chinese versions, the Global range may be reduced to 1-2 versions, as we have seen so far. So, pricing and the versions of the Global versions are still unclear, we will have to wait a little longer.
