Fans of the Redmi brand have been eagerly awaiting the launch of this year's first Redmi phone, and the launch date. The date has been set, and you can follow the event on 11 February from 8am Hungarian time.

The attached picture shows two cameras, which might suggest that the latest "cheap phone" already has two cameras, but that's not all. Created by Redmi events page for more details shows the device we believe to be the Redmi 9A.

The illustration on this page confirms our suspicion that the phone will indeed have a dual camera for perfect portraits. The Redmi 8A, announced in September 2019, only has a single rear camera, but its successor could get an extra sensor, which could be the usual 2MP depth sensor (like the Redmi 8) for better portraits. This could make the Redmi 9A a worthy rival to its biggest competitor in India, the Realme C3.

Two more pieces of information about the upcoming new model are available on the site. We know the battery capacity, which remains the same as the Redmi 8A/Redmi 8 at 5000mAh, which can also be optionally fed via USB-C port with 18W fast charging.

The Redmi 9A may also come with a polycarbonate casing, but the event page also shows the textured surface (also used on the Redmi 8A), which provides a strong grip. If you look closely at the image, you can see that the different pattern and colour of the decorative band found on the back of the Redmi 8A has been retained. From the picture, we can also infer the (turquoise) blue colour variant.

Xiaomi India's Manu Kumar Jain also tweeted about the event, hinting at the arrival of a new product:

A new category of products is on the way, and only the following teaser has been shared so far:

Only the colour is certain, the function is still a mystery.
It could be anything from the external battery to the Redmi Box. Even an external HDD / SSD.

The Redmi Band has also been rumoured, so the Indian market could get its own Redmi activity tracker and/or smartwatch this year. We'll be smarter by noon on 11 February (Hungarian time).
