Let me make it clear in advance that this is about the development of the Chinese software, or MIUI, not the EEA line, which is so popular in our country. Although the situation is not rosy in the East, MIUI is much more liveable than ours. Due to increased feedback, more emphasis is being put on bug fixes and improving the user experience this year.

Xiaomi's Product Director, Head of MIUI Experience, posted the news on Weibo today that they have formed the "MIUI Pioneer Group" to focus on solving various experience problems. The core MIUI team is undergoing a major reorganization and expansion to respond to user feedback. The internal tests will involve users who have so far submitted the most and most useful reports in the MIUI Feedback app. The importance of those who care about the usability of Xiaomi and Redmi phones and take action to improve the user experience has finally been recognised.

The group set up will coordinate feedback on errors and suggestions, which will be acted upon more quickly. The importance of this was summarised in a few points (translated from Chinese):

MIUI Pioneer Group

  1. This year, MIUI has invested a huge amount of engineering work into the system, almost double the amount invested in previous years. Of course, the hard work has also produced great results. In animation, the technical architecture and detail is approaching iOS levels for the first time. In terms of privacy, it has helped transform the whole industry. The majority of users and the media of the national institutions concerned have recognised and shown themselves throughout the Android camp.
  2. MIUI12 was only half of the "Long March" in the first half of the year, the MIUI 12 plan developed at the beginning of the year will run throughout the year. So, immediately after the release of 12, the team invested in the second half of R&D (the second half is expected to be more tedious). The soon-to-be-released MIUI 12.5 will complete the entire 12 plan. Despite being 5, its systemic R&D volume is no less than the full version of previous years. But this is a full version disguised as DLC.
  3. The MIUI team immediately began to reorganise and expand. We will have more resources to put the experience to good use in the future. After the reorganisation, we have increased our staff, many old partners have returned and business control is stronger. We are also planning to propose to the company to withdraw the more controversial expenses in order to improve the pace.
  4. Of course, there are many challenges and problems this year, but also, in fact, in the last ten years. If you encounter problems and solve them, you can move on and reach new heights. To keep pushing our dream forward, the team continues to expand rapidly and more people are eager to join us. Finally, there is a real story: The day before yesterday, our R&D supervisor was talking to a user who reported bugs frequently. This user suddenly switched to an internal communication tool. The R&D was shocked to find that this user had already joined MIUI and increased his influence many times over. The typical interpretation is that if you like and hate something, join and change it :)

Conclusion

These measures will also affect the Global and EEA systems, as these ruins are also being assembled by the Chinese development team. Although we've been excluded from translating our own language for some time - and it shows - we hope to have more say in the future. Feel free to write them any bugs and comments in the built-in feedback app, even in English, but English is definitely a better choice.
