The Mi TV 5th generation to be unveiled in 5 days which uses a new technology from the manufacturer. The Mi TV 5 series comes in the premium segment with Samsung QLED panels. So, in addition to 4K resolution, you'll also get more colour tones, more even illumination and better contrast. In addition, today's Weibo-s, the TV will also reportedly get a MEMC chip, which will provide hardware image enhancement for all content displayed.

What is MEMC technology?

The MEMC chip is responsible for smoother pixel movement and also benefits image refresh. The technology allows fast-moving scenes in games to show even more detail, which is great for an action-packed movie, but also for various sporting events.

Dynamic Image Quality Compensation (MEMC) is also used in OnePlus TVs, Motorola TVs and Mi TV 4X 50 - 65 inch versions. The technology is extremely useful in cases where the TV supports higher refresh rates e.g. 120Hz. For 60Hz video and TV, only 24 frames per second are supported. By removing the delay during scene shift, MEMC results in smoother images with a high refresh rate.

Major manufacturers use similar image processing in their higher-end devices, which also means a more expensive price tag. So it's not just the 4K panel you need to buy and then sell your TV with your own logo, but the image processing electronics and added features are just as important if you want to consume quality content.

Xiaomi Mi TV 5 specifications, Global Mi TVs

We are curious to see the other specifications of the new TV series, what contrast, RAM/backup size, panel bit depth, input lag it can do, and whether the system of the device will be modified.
The current Mi TV 4S /4A models available in our country are usable with some compromise. The bare PatchWall, and the cleaned up stock Android TV system somehow do not combine into a well-functioning system. Let's hope that this will be resolved with updates, because some of the licenses have not been paid for by the manufacturer, making HBO Go or Netflix unusable for the time being. Neither Xiaomi, nor Google, nor HBO will elaborate on why these restrictions apply to a system pre-installed by a manufacturer. The Mi Box Global version can run both apps without any problems. For TVs, however, the apps that can be installed are limited.

A Global version is not expected for Mi TV 5 anytime soon. The introduction of a full-fledged model that can be used without restrictions for the European market is highly questionable.

As soon as this happens, we will be sure to report it.
