For a century and a half, the technological universe has been expanding in the pursuit of constant innovation. As part of this process, product families have emerged one after the other, some of which survive, but most of which fail over time. One of the biggest success stories of the last decade has been wireless earphones, models that have come, seen and won, and are practically on the same level as MP3 players of yesteryear or Bluetooth speakers of late: happy-go-lucky develops and manufactures such products, and the range is simply gigantic.

Of course, Xiaomi also offers appliancesIn this article, we'll take a look at what you need to know about these machines, what types they are, and what to look out for when making a purchasing decision.

Real wireless headphones

Earphones with Bluetooth technology have existed before, but they used a wire to connect the two speaker chambers. In the so-called true wireless earphones, however, the cable has been completely banished. So this means that you  the product consists of two totally separate housings, one on the right and one on the left, which can be plugged into the ear.

It's also easier when you're exercising if you don't have a connecting wire flapping between your ears.

And this kind of design makes it incredibly comfortable to use, as you don't have to fiddle with the string, just plug these small components into the ear. Most of these products come with a separate, small, easy-to-carry case, which is both for carrying and for charging, as power is needed to operate them. These cases also have a battery for Xiaomi models, which means they can power the headphones even when there is no mains power source nearby.

Design

There are basically two schools in this product family. One is the pebble-like, bumford, roughly spherical enclosure. The other is the more elongated, slender pieces that hang below the ear.

The latter seem to be more popular with customers, as there are more of them and a wider choice.

Treatment

The better models can be controlled in two ways. On the one hand, basic functions such as adjusting the volume can be accessed by fiddling with the casing. But to get the most out of these options, you need an app that you can install on your phone or tablet. This now allows you to change the sound settings, view the battery charge level or step through numbers, to name just a few important examples.

In the case of Xiaomi products, this app can of course also speak English, and there are various diagrams to help you use the various functions, which can be of great help to those who are usually unfamiliar with the universe of technological devices.

Automatic switch-off

It is advisable to choose a product that automatically deactivates itself when it is removed from the ear. The Xiaomi Mi True Wireless Earphones 2  for example, an optical sensor is used. All this can be very important for energy efficiency, which is of particular importance for this product range

Battery

The casing of these true wireless earpieces is so small that there is simply not enough physical space to accommodate a high-capacity battery. So unlike, say, large BT headsets, which can last up to 30 hours, you'll usually have to settle for 4-6 hours after a single charge cycle. The battery case mentioned above, by the way, can be used for up to 20 hours without the user being near an electrical outlet.

Microphone

Most of the devices in this range have an integrated microphone, and we recommend that everyone should opt for one. This is because it can be used as a headset, so you can make calls or communicate verbally while you play. Xiaomi models use a twin-microphone system with ambient noise cancellation, which keeps the sound clear even when the external conditions are not ideal for talking.

Sound quality

Of course, this is a matter of taste, so we would rather say that it's worth choosing a branded product, because you will definitely not encounter any sound problems. In the case of the penny-pinching, non-branded models, this is unfortunately very much part of the package.

Price

There are huge variations, but the fact is that with a little luck you can get a great device for around 10-15 000 forints.
