In addition to pure Android, many manufacturers are trying to attract users with their own "system", but mostly with their interface. Their own apps, looks and services are interspersed among phones with almost identical hardware features. This differentiates them not only in appearance but also internally from competitors such as HarmonyOS, ColorOS, OriginOS and MIUI.

Of course, we are familiar with the MIUI interface and services, but it's also worth mentioning the interface of competing brands. Such as Huawei's HarmonyOS, OPPO's ColorOS, and vivo's OriginOS.

HarmonyOS 4.0

HarmonyOS is a modular, micro-kernel operating system developed by Huawei, announced in 2019 and running on Huawei's own Kirin chips. HarmonyOS is being developed for a wide range of devices, including smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, TVs, vehicles and more.

HarmonyOS aims to provide a unified operating system for Huawei's various devices. This makes it easier to share data and files between devices and provides users with a single operating system across all their devices.

ColorOS 14

ColorOS is an operating system developed by Oppo using Android basics, announced in 2013, and since then several new versions have been released. ColorOS currently runs on Oppo, Realme and OnePlus smartphones.

ColorOS aims to provide users with an easy-to-use and customisable operating system. The operating system has a number of features that make users' lives easier, such as a unified user interface, an intelligent assistant and a large number of customisable options.

OriginOS 4

OriginOS has a light and easy-to-understand visual design and a brilliant custom design. This allows all users to focus on getting information while staying connected to the digital world in style. For those of you who didn't know, the Origin operating system was released last year as a replacement for the Funtouch operating system on vivo and iQOO devices in China.

Publication date

Huawei has already officially announced the release of HarmonyOS 4.0, which is happening now on 4 August. OPPO, vivo and Xiaomi have yet to make official announcements, but rumours are that they will all be unveiling their new systems in a nice line-up. Xiaomi could be the last to unveil MIUI 15 on Xiaomi 14 phones in late November or early December. In the meantime, be patient, the alpha and beta Chinese versions will leak out anyway and I'll be back with the details.
