Instagram's pay-as-you-go solution, which gives subscribers access to a range of extra content from their favourite creators, is already in live testing.

First heard about pay as you go last July From Instagram, which can be thought of as a fan club: those who join and subscribe to the service will be able to view exclusive posts as well as public content created by content creators. The company's official statement according to the new system allows content producers to build deeper relationships with their followers and increase their regular monthly revenue by producing exclusive content for subscribers.

The paid system has already begun testing with ten popular content producers in the US, who can now offer extra live streams, stories and badges to subscribers. Among others, astrologer Aliza Kelly, actor-model Kelsey Cook, gymnast Jack Jerry and Olympic silver medallist Jordan Chiles are among the first influencers to produce extra content.

The system is currently only available to a very limited number of users, and it is not clear when it will be made more widely available. According to the announcement, the system works as an in-app purchase on both Android and iOS, and Meta will not charge a commission until 2023, so all the money raised will go to content producers until that date.
