Xiaomi's social platform even In February 2018, it presented 3 household appliances. Besides the heat pump and car inverter, perhaps one of the most interesting devices is the SmartMi Water Humidifier, was the evaporator.

You can read another test from New Year's Eve:
The SmartMi humidifier has arrived. Many people think "ah...I don't need it", but it is advisable to keep the humidity between 55-60%. I thought I didn't need it, but the constant drying of mucous membranes, dry skin, dry eyes, all indicate that our home is too dry. We contribute to this by perhaps using too much air conditioning, which we know dries out the apartment... There was no other option but to get one of these humidifiers. Why is this necessary? The colder the air, the less water it can carry. That's why a home with lots of ventilation in winter will be dry, even though you might think otherwise. It can help to spread wet clothes or to evaporate water in a pot of pots hung on the radiator. The first solution is not very spectacular, and the second is very dangerous if there are small children in the house. In summer, both are almost a failure, because clothes dry faster in the open air, so you're spreading them outside, and it's difficult to evaporate water on a cold radiator. Of course, dust is also better trapped in more humid air, but viruses also have a harder time getting into your body if you keep your home at the right temperature. I also use an Air Purifier, and there is visibly less dust when using it. All for family health!!! First of all, you should have a humidity meter these devices start from "a few" hundred forints...

I've done a lot of thinking and looking at products both at home and abroad. In terms of price, I was aiming for the 40-50 thousand HUF range, but I'll sacrifice anything on the altar of health if that's what it takes! I quickly decided when the SmartMi Humidifier came on sale that it was the one for me. It integrates into your system, it "doesn't" get waterlogged, it requires almost zero maintenance, just water.

Let's get cracking....

The product was again delivered by DPD, a little battered but intact. The packaging is the usual recycled, although I would have expected a white, more elegant packaging. But never mind, it's not the outside that counts, it's what's inside the box. Unfolded, I'm greeted by the instruction manual, which I thought I'd skim through first, because that's how I'm used to it. It was a pity, again it's only in Chinese, but the pictograms help a lot in assembling the thing. It's not like it's that hard to get through engineering school quickly. Everything is neatly packaged individually so that no damage or scratching of parts occurs during shipping. It basically comes in 3 pieces, plus the usual 4 kilometres of tape underneath an EU converter. A water tank that can hold 4 litres of water, a plastic 36 part honeycomb looking distillation disc that will be used to spin the water, prepare it for humidification and a control unit that includes the motor and smart electronics. Its craftsmanship no doubt brings a Xiaomi feel. Nothing wobbles or rattles on the machine, everything fits nicely. Even the buttons activate with a gentle press, you get a touch button feel, no need to force it. It's a masterpiece, but that's to be expected! There is no trace of any spillage or improper cutting, it is made as described in the big book! All unpacked and ready for the first test run..

We turn on...

Assembly is not difficult, as I described above. We start with the water tank, into which we put the wheel assembly, which we simply insert into a groove, and then the control unit on top. At the bottom of this we see an interesting connector that fits right into the bottom. If it's not assembled properly, your machine will refuse to start. If you look closely at the back, there's a sensor slot hidden in the back, where it measures the temperature and humidity. Now we just need to find a Chinese wall plug or use the EU converter that came with it. We filled it up with just the right amount of plain tap water. You'll also find a MAX mark on the top, just in case. 4 litres of water will fit in the tank, at which point you will reach the mark. Everything is ready to humidify our air. Plug the unit into our 230V socket and wait for the miracle. When the power is turned on, a beep indicates that the system is ready to start humidifying. In "manual" mode (as a non-smart device), it will do the job. It will start to correct the air in auto mode, but you can change this by pressing the button on the right. There are three levels of intensity, we stayed in auto mode. The wheel slowly starts to turn in the water and tries to evaporate the water that runs off. An infra-atomizer helps with this. With the button on the left, you can easily switch off the "display" lights, many people don't like to have an LED in the room at night, or turn on the WIFI. This function didn't work for me... In manual mode, there are not many settings, it does its job quietly. But since the gadget is SMART, it can be integrated into the MiHome smart home system.

Integration...

You will immediately find the Humidifier in the items to add after you have baked MiHome.

This should be "installed" into the system in the usual way. It asks for Wifi, next>next>next. You should know that it also works as a BLE Gateway. If it's not turned on on our phone BT will prompt us to do this on installation (why?). Once it is recognised, it is immediately included with the rest of our smart stuff. Clicking on it gives us a nice background, 3 buttons and data. It displays the room temperature, humidity and the amount of water in the room. You can also control it remotely with the buttons, but that's a basic requirement for a smart home. The 3 virtual buttons are not too complicated, on/off, speed control and a timer function button. That's the least we'll need, I think... A few non-essential trivia can be brought up by swiping upwards in the menu. A button to turn the led lights off and on, sound mute, Parental Control. With this on, the humidifier will only chat with the app, manual control disabled. This may be important for small children. We can ask for a switch to send us a signal if our device malfunctions. That's basic in my opinion. I have left a switch at the end that I find difficult to interpret, but I think it is the dehumidifier function, i.e. the device is willing to humidify for up to 8 hours. The menu above is more interesting, here you can see for example the BLE gateway function and if there is any Bluetooth enabled gadget nearby. In my case, it immediately recognised the LCD displays and the plant monitor plugged in next to the flowers. We also have the option to automate it, either by a switch or motion sensor. You can set it to be triggered or switched on by our LCD heat and humidity measuring device. This makes sense, it doesn't shut off in maual mode, it will vaporize continuously for 8 hours in automatic mode if you use the DRIED function. General settings, the usual, here you can download updates, monitor BLE gateway and get the usual network info. Updates came immediately, I didn't notice any changes, unfortunately a small part of the menu is still in Chinese.

Cue...

Our humidifier does a great job, in automatic mode it takes about 8-10 hours to finish a dose of water, which has raised the humidity in our home to 58-60%. The graph shows that I left the machine on at night, the humidity shot up with a brutal rise, I slept well that night. Notice the dryness of our apartment, with the machine not on it immediately drops down to 44%'s circumference.

I think anyone who has this problem should definitely get a humidifier, not only because it looks good next to the purifier, but also because dry air can be dangerous for everyone in the family! This is even more true for babies and young children! It's not a cheap product, but as I said at the beginning, health is the most important thing, so try not to waste your money on that! The price is around 45,000, I know there are cheaper and more expensive devices that are more likely to have the same effect. I like this one, it fits the bill!
