This morning, Xiaomi India tweeted that a new phone with a 32 MP selfie camera will arrive on 24 April 2019.

After the Redmi Go, Redmi Note 7 and Redmi Note 7 Pro, India is continuing the Redmi Y series, which debuted last year as the selfie king, and is likely to become the Redmi Y3.

The Redmi Y3 will have a waterdrop camera island, as is the current fashion, and it won't be small, but will have a brutal 32 MP camera module. This would even go for the back in a budget phone, but if it's going to be like this at the front, it's more than likely that the 48 MP rear will be a sure thing, and will be accompanied by one or two auxiliary cameras to keep with the current tradition.

In late 2017, the Chinese Redmi Note 5A was renamed Redmi Y1 in India, starting the line, and then in May last year, without any announcement, the Redmi S2 was released in the Polish Mi Store, only to be renamed Redmi Y2 and released in India. This year we wouldn't be surprised if something similar happens, but with an announcement already made that it will be launched in just over a week, no other device will beat it to once again just a renamed phone for fans in India. Manu Kumar Jain, the head of Xiaomi India, has deliberately teased that it will have a similar design to this year's Redmi series and will have a large battery. We'll wait and see how it turns out.
