About. two weeks ago I wrote about, it's still only rumour level, but it's possible that Redmi will have a top-of-the-range phone with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 processor. But Lu Weibing, the head of Redmi, later denied this, saying it would be the Redmi Pro 2.

And today, Wang Teng Thomas, Xiaomi's product director, posted a picture on Weibo, visiting Lin Bin over the weekend and wanting to share the rice brandy gift with his followers. Only, the picture included something he shouldn't have, so he deleted the picture, but luckily, the observant fans saved it. And the picture shows Lin Bin's left hand holding the mysterious Redmi phone that was featured in our first article.

As you can see in the picture, on the right side you can see the outline of the selfie camera, on the other side 3,5mm Jack connector and infra. As there is no camera island, it has a screen similar to the Mix series and perhaps more rumours may be true. The folks at Weibo are rumouring that it has an under-screen fingerprint reader and is powered by the SD855 SoC. As this could be a challenger to the Mi 9/SE duo, it's going to be quite an interesting intra-company rivalry. Although it wouldn't be the first product Redmi takes over from the Mi series. But if you look closer, this phone lies very parallel to the desk without a case, so it doesn't have the same protruding camera module as the previous ones. Perhaps the phone will be just thick enough not to hang out, as it needs room for the pop-out camera mechanics, plus it doesn't need a large display to accommodate a decent capacity battery. So here's to a Redmi phone that everyone covets, small display, no notch, SD855, screen fingerprint scanner, 4,000 mah battery, etc. Let's hope we get a Redmi pricing for this feature and not an umpteenth SD855 phone. We are waiting!
