The Xiaomi Mi A1 is one of the best value phones you can buy right now. It's the first Android One phone from Xiaomi to run pure Android without MIUI, without any changes. For those for whom this is their first Xiaomi phone, it's a super snappy, easy-to-use smartphone. For MIUI fans, however, it's too "bare-bones".
The software is developed and updated by Google, with Xiaomi as the hardware manufacturer. Following the announcement of the Mi A1, users were promised that they would receive the major version of Android 8.0, Oreo, later this year. Although the final update is not yet ready, some users have been given the opportunity to test it in a private beta.

The India TelecomTalk news site had the opportunity to test it among private beta testers. We've now taken a look at their feedback:

What's new:

  • redesigned Settings application
  • customizable icons
  • Picture in picture and automatically filled API
  • faster application load time
  • smoother animations
  • accelerated boot time
  • intelligent text selection
  • notification points

But what will be welcome news for many, and more important than the other improvements, is the introduction of fast charging support.

Most Xiaomi devices do not support Qualcomm's Quick Charge technology, even though the hardware is capable of this feature. This may be because Xiaomi has not paid Qualcomm a licensing fee to use Quick Charge technology. But now that's changing, at least for the Mi A1 for sure.

The TelecomTalk measurements show that Mi A1 can now be fully charged in 92 minutes. Previously (before switching to Oreo) it typically took nearly two hours.

However, it should be pointed out that the test is OnePlus Dash Charger and not with the Xiaomi charger that came with the phone (it doesn't come with a QC charger head from the factory).
The final update is expected to be launched soon, and all users will be able to benefit from the improvements in January.
On our Facebook page and in the MXH (Hungarian Xiaomi News, Interesting Facts) group, we are looking forward to your feedback and experiences following the Mi A1 update.
