The Xiaomi Civi 1S is coming soon, and we've rounded up what you can expect, when, and for how much.

Xiaomi has confirmed that it will launch the Xiaomi Civi 1S in China later this week. The second device in the Civi series is not the original (Xiaomi Civi), but an updated version.

Xiaomi Civi is the company's new smartphone range aimed at the Chinese female audience. The first Xiaomi Civi phone was announced at the end of September.

Publication date

The Civi 1S will be unveiled at an event in China on 21 April. The conference starts at 14:00 CST. The event will be streamed live on Weibo and other well-known Chinese video streaming platforms.

Last year's Civi

Design

Xiaomi has officially unveiled the design of the Civi 1S. A short video teaser and promotional renders suggest that the device looks exactly the same as the original Xiaomi Civi.

It will have a rectangular rear camera island. The sensors will be arranged in a triangular shape, with a large primary sensor on top and two secondary sensors below.

The back of the phone has a glossy finish and the frame is made of metal. Finally, it retains the curved display of the original model.

Specifications

Several tipsters have already published the specifications of the Civi 1S and their details are in line with each other. First and foremost, the device will feature a 6.55-inch LTPO AMOLED panel with a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz. The screen will have FHD+ resolution and will feature a cutout for the front camera in the middle.

It will also be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G Plus SoC with 8 GB/12 GB of RAM and 128 GB/256 GB of storage. In comparison, the original Xiaomi Civi has a non-LTPO AMOLED display and a smooth Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G chipset.

The Xiaomi Civi 1S cameras are different from the original Xiaomi Civi cameras. The newer model reportedly comes with a 32 MP Sony IMX616 selfie camera instead of the 32 MP Samsung ISOCELL GD1 sensor.

The rear camera system will feature a 2 MP monochrome sensor instead of the 2 MP macro. The setup will be composed of an OIS-compatible 64 MP Samsung ISOCELL GW3 primary sensor and an 8 MP Sony IMX355 ultra-wide unit. The original Xiaomi Civi does not have OIS.

Although the upcoming smartphone will be powered by the same 4500 mAh battery as the older model, it can support 67 W fast charging instead of 55 W fast charging.

On the software side, the Civi 1S runs MIUI 13 based on Android 12 out of the box. In contrast, the original Civi debuted with Android 11-based MIUI 12.5 and has been updated to MIUI 12.5 Enhanced Edition and Android 12-based MIUI 13.

Expected price

The original Xiaomi Civi is available for 2599 yen (8 GB + 128 GB), 2899 yen (8 GB + 256 GB) and 3199 yen (12 GB + 256 GB). The phone is still being sold at the same price after nearly 7 months.

However, it is worth noting that the discount was granted for a limited period of time a few months ago.

At this time, we are not sure if Xiaomi plans to discontinue the original Xiaomi Civi after the release of the Xiaomi Civi 1S. If this is the case, we can expect the upcoming smartphone to cost the same. If not, its price might be a bit higher than the original model.
