Xiaomi 12 Extreme Edition comes with Xiaomi 8 Gen 1 Plus

The popular Webio leaker, Digital Chat Staion appeared on the side a new Xiaomi device codenamed L2S. This smartphone carries the model number 2206122SC and uses Qualcomm's latest SM8475 processor. The company is expected to release this device in the third quarter of 2022.

Last year, the Mi 11 series did not have a model with the letter S, like the latest L2S. However, in 2020, the Mi 10 series had a model with the code name J1S. This model eventually became the Xiaomi Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition. It is a very rare member of the series. Based on this, it can be concluded that this device will be the Xiaomi 12 Extreme Edition.

The Qualcomm SM8475 is the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, made using 4 nm process. The overall architecture shouldn't change much, but the higher clock speed should result in better performance.

The Xiaomi 12 Ultra is confirmed to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The main upgrade point for the Xiaomi 12 Ultra is the camera, however this smartphone will not get Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 Plus, so that rules out the possibility of the L2S being the Xiaomi 12 Ultra. The Xiaomi 12 Ultra will be launched after the Redmi K50 which will arrive in March. So Xiaomi 12 Ultras will debut between April and May this year, earlier than this device.

The above upcoming flagships will all come with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 SoC. The Xiaomi 12 Extreme Edition, however, will likely use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 or Gen 1 Plus processor.
