Elon Musk's space company, SpaceX, has made an animation showing how it envisages a trip to Mars.

Elon Musk has repeatedly stated how important he believes it is for humanity to try to terraform other planets, to make them habitable, because the Earth will eventually become uninhabitable. Musk first mooted the idea of colonising Mars in 2016, when he envisaged a human mission to Mars as early as 2025. The tech mogul is no longer so optimistic, but he still insists that Mars will be colonised in our lifetime.

As part of this dream, SpaceX's first Starship could be in orbit later this year, with plans to take humans to Mars. Now, the first space shuttle Published at animation depicts the Starship leaving the Boca Chica launch pad, also known as the Starbase, and the detached rocket elements returning to their designated locations. Not surprisingly, the video ends with the travellers successfully arriving on Mars, where a colony awaits them.

Musk recently said in an interview that it would take five years at best and ten years at worst for the first humans to reach Mars.

As well as preparing for a trip to Mars, SpaceX is also building a lunar module for NASA that will allow Americans to return to the Moon after 50 years. The space company will use the aforementioned Starship for this purpose.
