Xiaomi 12S Ultra concept: external lens

Xiaomi has some innovative ideas, concepts and of course their implementation. Sometimes we just stare and stare at these ideas, but it's only when they are presented that we realise that this is reality. One of these was a wireless phone charger that worked in a whole room. And now, the Xiaomi 12S Ultra phone has been redesigned so that an external Leica lens can be attached to the phone. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra Concept Phone is born.

A bit of shocking news hit the Chinese cyberspace this morning, Xiaomi has redesigned the Xiaomi 12S Ultra phone to allow an external lens to be screwed onto it. It has taken the lens out of the front of the 1″ Sony sensor, put a bayonet lock frame around the camera island. You can mount almost any Leica lens on this with an adapter!

With this option, Xiaomi has created an interchangeable lens MILC smartphone. Among the lenses, the Leica M series can be used, which currently consists of this many pieces:

• Wide angle of view: 18 pieces
• Normal: 5 pieces
• Full: 7 pcs
• Macro: 1 pc

This way, the child's position is completely different. A DXOMark's list not a very well-ranked phone anyway, this is such a step up that it could easily move up a league. But the list doesn't end here, because compatible lenses are also on the table! And that list is expanding with 30+ obi's, including quite a few ZEISS lenses.
