Well, I've got bad news for you again, although it's not news that a manufacturer is ending support for some of its devices. Xiaomi is no exception, in fact, it seems to be the frontrunner in this field these days and now 7 Xiaomi phones are being discontinued.

Újabb 7 Xiaomi telefon támogatása szűnik meg

Rest assured, we're not talking about global devices, not yet, but about the end of the Chinese MIUI developer version. How does this affect us in Europe? There are quite a few Chinese Xiaomi/Redmi phones coming to us one by one in Europe, so they will be affected as well, as the Chinese MIUI is being made into the global version.

According to this week's Chinese MIUI report it was announced that support for 7 phones will end on 21 April 2023:

  • Redmi K40 Pro
  • Redmi K40 Pro+
  • Redmi K40
  • Xiaomi Mi 10S
  • Xiaomi Mi 11 Youth Edition
  • Redmi K40 Game Enhanced Edition
  • Redmi Note 10 Pro

Chinese Redmi phones are usually POCO, like the Redmi K40 Game Edition - POCO F4 GT or Redmi K40 - POCO F3 etc. But it just so happens that the Xiaomi Mi 11 Youth Edition is specifically the Xiaomi 11 Lite 5G phone.

The demise of the Chinese developer MIUI does not mean that nothing is coming to the phones mentioned. The Chinese stable version and the global versions will still survive 1-2 updates, so no worries yet. Then when they appear in the EOS list, the negative reviews will come. I will write about that anyway.
