Xiaomi is constantly filing new patents on smartphones, which either become a concrete product or end up in a desk drawer. However, after the launch of the Mi MIX Alpha, we can hope to see more futuristic Xiaomi smartphone types in the future.
Today, we have another drawing of a camera design that at first "looks" like an Apple product, with a symmetrically placed secondary display.
Notch-free Xiaomi smartphone concept
As you can see from Xiaomi's patent sketch, the front of the phone has a full (notch-free) screen, which is not perforated like the Redmi K30.There are only two sensors on the front of the phone, no front (selfie) camera.
On the back of the phone, there is a rear main camera unit in the top left corner. This "camera island" contains four cameras symmetrically arranged with a round front lens. Just like the.... Yes, similar, but there are actually 4 cameras here, not just 3.
In the top right corner of the back, there's a small square screen with rounded corners that you can use for selfies. The flash is located below the two units in the middle, probably with at least a double LED design.
The fingerprint reader is expected to be an in-screen solution. The "MIX" label is visible on the drawing, and we can expect to see several MIX models in 2020, all likely to be 5G capable.
Two more patents have also surfaced, the first of which we wrote about just over a year ago.
Foldable Mi MIX (Flex)
So far, nothing has come of it, although it was already talked about at MWC 2019. Instead, we got a Mi MIX Alpha with a nearly 360° display.
Xiaomi smartphone model with pop-up penta (selfie) camera and foldable camera
This is unlikely to be achieved, because providing a unit of this size with stable mechanics is an almost impossible undertaking.
The at MWC 2020 we expect to know more about which ideas could lead to a purchasable end product.
