The Gmail web interface continues in a revamped form, with developers saying the new site will be cleaner and more transparent.
In recent years, it has significantly expanded its Gmail Correspondence is used for. Email is still the main focus of the site, of course, but extra services such as Google Meet, which allows unlimited voice and video calls, have been added to the repertoire. With around 1.5 billion users, the versatile platform is by far the world's most popular email client, but the current user interface has been criticised in recent years and the company decided it was time to reform the site to meet user needs.
Adapted to the working environment at home, the new interface will feature a dedicated column for different services, such as Chat, Meet video conferencing platform or Spaces, which is useful for collaborative projects. The system will also indicate when there is activity on the service, in bubbles similar to Facebook Messenger.
Google's announcement according to testing of the new interface will start on 8 February, and it will become the default setting for everyone in April. There will still be the option to revert to the old interface, but from the end of June this option will also be removed.
