WhatsApp is introducing a new security feature to help protect privacy and secure communications.

In recent years, communication has shifted even more into the digital space, and at the same time, privacy and data protection have become a major concern. For some time now, WhatsApp, owned by Meta (Facebook), has been focusing on security improvements, which is no surprise given the company's history of privacy problems.

The WABetaInfo spotted that the message sender is hiding the Last seen status, which means visibility of availability to strangers, so people we don't know or haven't chatted to in the app can't see if and when we were last available. It's also worth noting that WhatsApp already has a feature called Nobody, which makes it possible to hide a user's visibility on the site, whether they are known or unknown.

However, this is not the only feature that WhatsApp has recently introduced. The disappearing messages were introduced last year on the site, and they consist of a menu that lets you choose whether the message you send in a conversation stays forever or disappears after 24 hours, 7 days or 90 days. The disappear feature was extended to pictures and videos a few months ago, and more recently it was extended to reported the company that users can set this feature as default so that all messages are automatically deleted from the service in the future.
