"More friends, less politics" - announced Nick Clegg, Facebook's Vice President of Global Affairs, who was leader of the Liberal Democrats and Deputy Prime Minister of the UK from 2007 to 2015.

Mark Zuckerberg has certainly not been sleeping well in recent weeks, as the internet has been abuzz with scandals surrounding Facebook. Not only has the company had to deal with hours of downtime for services under its umbrella, but also much more serious matters centred on leaked internal Facebook research.

In short: in mid-September the The Wall Street Journal leaked from an internal study by parent company Facebook, which shows that the company is well aware of the harmful effects of Instagram on young people under its umbrella. The case has been investigated by the Senate, and Frances Haugen, a former Facebook product manager, has come forward to say that she leaked the company's secret internal documents.

In response to the situation, Facebook stopped the development of Instagram for kids, they shared their internal research, and of course Mark Zuckerberg also had a few words of explanation. Adding to the firefighting measures, Nick Clegg has recently Notify that Facebook will further restrict political content on the site, and a new notice on teenagers who spend too much time in front of screens. In addition to these changes, there will also be a new way for parents to better monitor their children's online activity on the photo sharing site.

It is not yet known when these changes will come into effect, but if we had to guess, we would say sometime in the autumn, given that the company is trying to get out of the increasingly volatile situation as soon as possible.
