Our energy consumption is becoming more and more important, not only for the protection of the planet (although that is the most important), but also for our wallets. By lifting the suspension of the cuts in the rationing... I'm not going into a political black hole! So I was most interested in how much it would cost me to ride a scooter in 2022. So I did the math.

Mennyibe kerül rollerezni REZSICSÖKKENTVE 2022-ben?

The subject is a Xiaomi Mi Electric Scooter 3, which has a I did the overweight test. I wondered how much a trip with a full charge would actually cost. I will try to compare it with other means of transport. Let's see.

Mennyibe kerül rollerezni REZSICSÖKKENTVE 2022-ben?

The Mi Electric Scooter 3 consumes between 69 and 69.5 W when charging. This is converted to 0.0695 kWh. According to the manufacturer, the charging time of the scooter is 5.5 hours, that's 5 hours 30 minutes. I can back this up, I had to charge it from almost zero to 100% a lot during the test.

Anyway, so. I checked the prices on the E-ON provider's site, for me A1 - Block I is decisive, all in all the total gross amount is 35.29 HUF/kWh. Total charge of the scooter 5.5 hours x 0.0695 kWh = 0.38225 kWh x 35.29 Ft = ~13.5 Ft. Well, that's a ridiculous amount... Underneath me the scooter goes 13 km, so I'm travelling at a cost of almost 1 Ft/km. If you take an average citizen weighing 70 kg, he/she will go about 30 km under it. Then the total is more interesting! 0.45 Ft / km cost is already close to nothing.

Let's see what it means to rollerblade in a month. First, let's see what it means in my situation. Let's say I ride my scooter every day, to and from shopping, training, family, etc. 13 km is not a long distance, so I spend it every day. If we take the worst month, which has 31 days, then in a calendar month the cost of the scooter is 418.5 Ft! In one month I have to pay 500 Ft NOTHING! Only the bike and our two legs are cheaper than that. On an average for a yuzzer it is even less, because 13 vs 30 km is a pretty big difference. Let's say you only need to fully recharge every other day. Then the monthly cost of the scooter is only 209.25 Ft.

Motorbikes, cars, public transport, etc. all cost more, although they have slightly different uses. But let's stick strictly to urban transport! In Budapest BKK area, a pre-purchased line ticket costs 350 HUF, on the spot 450 HUF. In Győr it is 250 / 400 Ft. For a one-off... wait for parties of rolling laughter... Now let's see if I'm very comfortable and drive that much per day. Honda Civic 1.4is average city consumption is 8.5 L/100 km. The official price of petrol is currently 480 Ft/L. So 8.5 L/100 km x 480 Ft = 40.8 Ft x 13 km = 530.4 Ft. If I drive the same amount as I use the scooter, it cost me 39 times more that day.

Yes, I know, at least with a car I can shop properly, and with a scooter I can fit as much as I can on my back. But that's not the point. So in my reading, scootering is something brutally worth it if you just need to go somewhere in the city quickly. And yes, you're right, the bike is cheaper. Is it really cheaper? Because you're the bike on that one and you need more food when you're pedaling than when you're standing on the scooter. I don't do the math on that...
