No hype, no presentation, no online event, just the Redmi 13C posted on every Social platform. And on the official site, the usual fancy-schmancy presentation page and the specs. No official European price yet, but it's out on Amazon.
The "C" designation usually indicates the cheaper and weaker version, so if it comes as a regular Redmi 13, it will be even better. Although, inexplicably, it has the same screen as a Note series, when it should be smaller. But the specs are pretty good for the price.
The screen is 6.74″ IPS LCD, but it's at least 90 Hz, so you get smooth animation, DC attenuation, 600 nit max brightness, TÜV certification for low blue light and flicker-free. But best of all, it's got Gorilla Glass protection. And what makes it so cheap is its resolution, which is only 1600×720 pixels and 260 ppi, which is very low for this size.
There's no shortage of cameras either, with three coming soon. The primary has the now familiar 50 MP sensor, 5P lens and f/1.8 aperture. Its capabilities aren't outstanding, but at least it takes nice pictures. It features FilmCam, HDR, Night, Portrait and 50MP modes with Time-Laps. The secondary camera is a 2 MP macro with f/2.4 aperture and I don't know what to call it. The third, brace yourself, is a 0.08 MP depth sensor! The selfie camera is 8 MP, with a movie camera function and f/2.0 aperture. It also has HDR and Portrait mode, Time-Laps, Soft Light Ring when it's dark.
But what is a filmCamera?
In this feature, like the Leica camera Xiaomi phone, there are two preset camera modes. The C-50D and the KG200. The first is called "Daylight Movie Film", which is suitable for artistic portraits in relatively brightly lit environments. The other, "Golden Film", is suitable for portraits in darker environments. So if you know in advance what conditions you'll be shooting in, you'll get better results and more artistic images.
The Redmi 13C is powered by a powerful eight-core processor. According to the poster. The reality is that it's the MediaTek Helio G85 processor, which is not the most powerful with 12 nm technology. It was even back in the Redmi Note 8 2021 and Redmi Note 9 phones. But it's been put in the POCO C65 and the best joke is that Redmi 12C on the phone! So there is no change in performance compared to the previous series. Don't laugh...
But at least the battery is big. At 5,000 mAh and 18W fast charging, the Redmi 13C is almost better than the Redmi 12C was. But watch this! Fine print: 10W charging adapter included in the package. So if you buy it, it still won't charge at 18W, it just supports it. Huh?
Redmi 13C price
The Redmi 13C was first released in Europe on Amazon, and at the time of writing, no other platforms were offering it. It is priced at 140 $ ~ 49.450 Ft, plus shipping, which is 13.49 $ ~ 4.765 Ft.
