A few days ago, Google announced the 6th and final beta of Android Q, which precedes the release of the first stable version. At the same time, the release of the development environments has started and development teams can start working on their own systems. Although this is already well underway and internal tests have been running for some time at Xiaomi.

It was announced this morning that the Mi 9 and Redmi K20 Pro have been released to internal testers in China with a closed beta update. The public release is still a few sleeps away, not to mention the stable, aaaand Global version. The original plan was to release it in Q4 2019, but it looks like we might get it sooner, October would be too long.

Android Q base in MIUI won't bring too many new features. Before Google, Xiaomi has already integrated all the features that are highlighted in the 10 droid in its own system, such as the dark system theme, gesture control, 5G connections control, separate update of system apps, etc. But many features are not included that are included in the base android systems that the Pixel phones or then Xiaomi Mi A series, active focus mode, "wind down" mode that warns you when the phone is hanging up, native Family Link, notifications and multitasking bubble, messages and notifications auto-reply feature, etc.

Specific changes in MIUI in the first closed beta:

Screen lock, status bar, notification bar

  • New - Set the visual style of the notification bar
  • Optimised - The page after a long press on the screenshot switch
  • Fixed - The one-way process map no longer shows an incorrect name in the shortcut
  • Fixed - The timer no longer disappears from the top left corner of the status bar
  • It also fixes some problems with the camera icon and shutter screen

Home screen

  • Updates added for Xiaomi

Once the closed test is complete and the Android Q update is public, the list of new features will be much longer, but it may also be released under MIUI 11, as internal tests are already underway for these phones. As soon as we know more, we'll update you with details!
