The Xiaomi 13 series, designed in collaboration with Leica, has arrived on the international market. International users can now experience the professional-quality Leica camera system for the first time in Xiaomi's high-end models.
Xiaomi unveiled its high-end smartphone range, the Xiaomi 13 series, in Barcelona. The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro offer a completely new experience with a much higher quality of photography thanks to the strategic partnership between Xiaomi and Leica, a close collaboration between the two companies. Leica engineers have played a key role in the development of these two devices, which have been long awaited on the market, with professional-quality Leica lenses built into the phones and advanced hardware and software solutions to complete the unadulterated Leica experience. The devices also boast powerful performance for the premium category, powered by the latest Snapdragon® 8 Gen 2 processor and Xiaomi's proprietary Surge battery management system.

Professional images with a camera developed in collaboration with Leica
From the hardware to the UI/UX design responsible for imaging, the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro cameras are co-designed with Leica. The result: a professional photography experience in the smartphone category. Both devices are equipped with a camera system consisting of three Leica lenses.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro Leica Vario-Summicron 1:19-2.2/14-75 ASPH camera system spans a focal length of 14 to 75 millimetres: an ultra-large 23 millimetre wide-angle main camera with a 1-inch IMX989 sensor, a 75 millimetre floating telephoto camera, and a 14 millimetre ultra-wide-angle camera. The IMX989 sensor made its debut on the Xiaomi 12S Ultra phone and is the largest sensor ever built into a smartphone. This powerful sensor also offers a wide dynamic range, excellent light capture capabilities and short response time, allowing for extremely colour-rich and sharp shots that highlight textures and fine details. When focusing, typical of DSLR cameras, the smartphone's new 75mm telephoto lens makes good use of the lens' floating, achieving a focal length of 10cm to infinity - meaning the camera can be used to shoot beautiful portraits and close-ups.
The optical zoom of the Xiaomi 13 ranges from 0.6 to 3.2 times magnification, and it also features a 75 millimetre telephoto lens.
There are so many settings available for the enthusiastic amateur or professional photographer who wants to take pictures with the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro. The system built around the master lens and software capabilities allow for a wide focal length and depth of field, which is really useful for portrait photography. Users can choose between two shooting styles, Leica Authentic Look and Leica Vibrant Look. These offer the possibility to achieve specific aesthetic aspects in terms of colour accuracy and saturation. Easy-to-access UI features such as Leica Filters, Leica Watermark and the Leica Classic Shutter Release Sound Effect make photography even more enjoyable.
Thanks to the Xiaomi Imaging Engine, the Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 have the highest computing power for photography of all Xiaomi top models. Not only has the image capture speed been increased: the device can now automatically focus on specific objects with Xiaomi ProFocus, further enhancing the user experience.
The resulting images can be further refined, as in pro-mode it is possible to make post-processing manual adjustments to the images on both devices. The Xiaomi 13 Pro supports 10-bit RAW DNG camera and colour profiles created by Adobe, so professionals can easily further edit their shots in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Lightroom.
The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are also great for motion capture. Both devices offer a professional-level video tool, Create in Dolby Vision®, which makes colours even more vibrant, contrasts even sharper and details even more visible in images. The camera can also record videos at 4K resolution in night lighting and uses HyperOIS image stabilisation for better image quality.
Amazing speed and performance with the Snapdragon®️ 8 Gen 2 processor, reliability and power with Xiaomi Surge
Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are powered by the industry-leading mobile platform Snapdragon®️ 8 Gen 2. Graphics tasks are handled by the GPU processor, with performance and power efficiency 42 and 49 percent higher than its previous generation counterpart. CPU performance and power efficiency have been improved by 37 and 47 percent respectively,¹ ensuring ease of use and fast operation of functions such as graphics processing of photos, real-time AI-based solutions and games, while also helping to extend battery life.
The devices also support Wi-Fi 7 connectivity via the Qualcomm® FastConnect TM 7800 Mobile Connectivity System. The High Band Simultaneous (HBS) Multi-Link technology in the Xiaomi 13 Pro allows the phone to connect to multiple devices simultaneously over 5GHz and 6GHz bands, and is capable of ultra-high-speed connectivity up to 5.8 Gbps with low latency and excellent networking capabilities.2 The Xiaomi 13 Pro also offers Dual Band Simultaneous (DBS) Multi-Link capabilities, with a maximum download speed of 3.6 Gbps.
The Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro are equipped with Xiaomi Surge battery management system, which uses Xiaomi's proprietary Surge charging chip for longer battery life and better user experience. The Xiaomi 13's battery has a capacity of 4,500 mAh, while its energy density is the highest in its class, meaning it can easily last all day. The device supports 67W wired and 50W wireless fast charging. The Xiaomi 13 Pro's battery is even larger, with a capacity of 4,820 mAh, and 120W HyperCharge charges the phone to 100% in 19 minutes.
Minimalist design and excellent presentation worthy of the premium category
Both the Xiaomi 13 and Xiaomi 13 Pro have a brand new minimalist design that draws attention to their powerful technical features.
Xiaomi 13 is available in classic and bright colours - Black and Flora Green. The display is flat, the edges are flattened and the back is curved. Both devices have a stylish look and are comfortable to hold. The display takes up 93.3% of the phone's surface area - the bezel is just 1.61 millimetres thick4 - which, given the size of the device, gives a great image display. The Xiaomi 13 has a large 6.36-inch FHD+ AMOLED display, where colours are vibrant, accurate and vivid. The E6 AMOLED panel ensures lower power consumption.
The Xiaomi 13 Pro, however, has a curved ceramic body, in which the cameras fit nicely. It comes in two colours - Ceramic White and Ceramic Black - and it also fits beautifully in the hand. The 6.73-inch WQHD+ AMOLED display with 120Hz refresh rate is a captivating sight to behold. It's also made of E6 material, so brightness reaches 1200 nits across the entire surface, but even higher at certain points, with a maximum of 1900 nits. Colour fidelity is guaranteed by TrueColor technology. The device offers an extraordinary audiovisual experience thanks to its support for Dolby Vision®, HDR10+, HDR10, HLG, and Atmos® technologies.
Both phones meet the IP68 standard, which means they are dust and water resistant.
Premium services
The Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 offer three generations of Android system updates, with security updates guaranteed for five years. Owners of the devices are also entitled to 6 months of free YouTube Premium, which provides ad-free access to YouTube and the YouTube Music app; and Google One cloud service with up to 2TB of storage capacity for high-resolution images and videos captured with the professional camera system. In addition, thanks to support for Android's digital car keys feature, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 owners can share their digital car keys with family members to unlock, lock and start their cars. Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 users are entitled to one additional free service within 12 months of purchase, on top of the standard warranty service. To further enhance the post-purchase customer experience, Xiaomi is now offering Smartphone International Warranty Service to its customers in 40 countries.
