You don't hear much about the Spanish team at MIUI, but this time they've captured something so important that it's worth talking about.

Before getting to the point, there are several types of MIUI ROMs, but the most important thing to distinguish is that Chinese ROMs are different from global or EU ROMs, and in general these ROMs are better, more feature-rich, and get updated faster. The MIUI Spanish team got fed up with this and wrote a letter to Xiaomi detailing the problems.

For those who want to read the full letter, see dearxiaomi.com-but here is a summary of the gist of the issues they have raised and what they are asking the company to do.

Better support

They want better, faster, more extensive support and a European department to deal with global ROM bug reports. Their reasoning is that if there is no test team outside China, they cannot detect bugs that could only be found in Europe or the US.

Comparison of global ROMs with the Chinese version

In their justification, they elaborate on what I wrote in the introduction, that Chinese ruins are more feature-rich, with not much new in the global ruins. These differences are also reflected in the optimization, as an example they mentioned the Mi 10 Pro, which takes better photos with Chinese ROM than with the global version.

Number of instruments and lack of support for them

As you may have noticed, there are a lot of phones coming out of Xiaomi. There are 4-6 different devices in a series, so you can understand why they're releasing software support much earlier. The number of devices is increasing, but, if there are no more developers, they have to compensate somehow. The authors of the letter believe that what is needed is not so many new devices, but rather longer support.

The Xiaomi ecosystem

Xiaomi's own apps, such as phone, messaging, have been replaced by Google variants, so more Xiaomi features have been removed from the devices. Also, several apps like My Drive, My Wallet have been removed. To fully use the Xiaomi ecosystem, these are also needed.

They conclude by adding that they like Xiaomi, but disagree with the recent policies. Prices are rising, but support is falling. They ask the company to go back to the original path and listen to Xiaomi fans.

My private opinion is that they are right about most things. What is needed is a renewal of the global ROM and normal support. The petition has been signed by 2857 people so far.
