All the info that came out the other day was about the Redmi Note 8 Pro phone, with a center-focused camera, Helio G90T SoC, etc. But today Lu Weibing and Redmi made a strange announcement.

The Redmi Note 8 will look very different to the Pro version. While the Pro has a centrally aligned camera quad, the regular version will have the camera in its usual place, on the side, in a row. In the Pro, there are only 3 cameras below each other, with the small depth-sensing sensor positioned next to the trio of three. While the Pro will have a 64Mp resolution main camera, the plain one will have a 48MP resolution camera familiar from the Note 7.

The other big difference is at the heart of the phone, with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 665 processor instead of the new MediaTek helio G90 series announced with great fanfare. We don't yet know the background to this, pressure from fans, MTK publicity, or was it planned this way as only the Pro was marked with an MTK SoC.

The SD665 is good for everything! Of course, we don't know anything about the MTK G90T yet, but it will probably perform better in gaming quality, if everything that has been said about it is true. Not too many phones have been made with this processor yet, Xiaomi has so far released the Mi A3 and CC9e, now the Redmi Note 8, but the Redmi 8 will also be released with it.
