Xiaomi will unveil the Redmi Note 5 tomorrow. The secrecy surrounding the next member of the hugely popular Redmi Note series has been successful so far in India, as they are gearing up for the launch of what is expected to be another record-breaking phablet. There have been a lot of rumours, speculations, several renders and specs floating around the press in the past few weeks. There was no way of knowing whether it would be just a rebranded Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, or a completely new model. It is now also clear that Xiaomi will bring not one, but two devices to the Indian market first. In addition to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5, there will also be a Redmi Note 5 Pro.

First official pictures of the two new models. As you can see from the pictures and specs, the 'Pro' variant is more interesting, as the Redmi Note 5 looks like a rebranded Redmi 5 Plus at first glance. These official renders are real, taken a day before the launch.

Among the strengths of the Redmi Note 5 Pro is the dual rear camera, which to the chagrin of many of us is not in the middle, but vertically positioned in the top left corner, following a new trend. Of course, the front-facing camera with its constantly improving AI support is also worth mentioning and the stronger SoC is also welcome.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro has a 12MP + 5 MP camera sensor. Xiaomi uses a brutal selfie sensor for the Pro variant, as it has built a 20MP Sony IMX376 sensor above the display. It comes with Beautify 4.0 and 1080p videos at 30 fps. As for the processor, it will be powered by the Snapdragon 636 SoC, as rumoured earlier.

Both models will have the same size and resolution, i.e. a 5.99-inch FHD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and on-screen navigation buttons. The Redmi Note 5 Pro will be available in three variants: 3 GB + 32 GB, 4 GB + 64 GB, 6 GB + 64 GB. Pricing is not yet known, but will be revealed at the event tomorrow. As for the Redmi Note 5, we previously said it was basically a rebadged Redmi 5 Plus, which turns out to be true.
