The Qualcomm new-generation processor family, Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, was released in February this year in devices from various brands. It's prettier, more colourful, smellier than the previous one, SD888+, and has been given the designation Generation instead of numbering. Qualcomm has since updated it a couple of months because it revealed a few bugs that could sour the experience for Jezers. At the same time, the smaller one arrived, SD7 Gen 1 series and now rumours of a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor are circulating.

Snapdragon 6 Gen 1

On Twitter, Evan Blass leaked the above image, which is the datasheet of the Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor. If it's real, we can learn quite a bit about the new chip.

The processor has not yet been officially released, so not all the details have been revealed. However, the datasheet above shows that it has a clock speed of 2.2 GHz on a 64-bit architecture. Graphics are provided by an unnamed Andreno GPU. Camera support stops at 4K HDR quality, it's already four times what the last SD695 could do. The manufacturing process has also been reduced compared to the previous one, now only 4 nm instead of 6. This reduces power consumption and increases performance.

Other notable specifications include the Hexagon Tensor Accelerator, for better machine learning. Snapdragon X62 modem with mmWave and sub-6GHz support, Smart Transmit 2.0 power saving technology, Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 6E, 120Hz FHD+ resolution and Quick Charge 4 Plus support.

Unfortunately, the release of Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 is still unknown. But we hope that mid-range Redmi phones will get it soon, such as the Redmi 12 or Redmi Note 12 Lite. Well, we'll wait and see.
