In January, the Poco brand was revived and then became independent from Xiaomi. The Indian brand Poco X2 launched its first own smartphone on 4 February under the name. The X2 is actually a spin-off of the 4G version of the Redmi K30, launched specifically against the biggest competing brand, Realme, in India. It was also revealed today, courtesy of Xiaomi's - newly appointed - Vice President (Chang Cheng) that the Poco will not be limited to India, it will also be available in China.

C Manmohan, Managing Director of Poco India, stressed that the split between Poco India and Xiaomi does not affect Poco's current philosophy, which is summed up in the brand's tagline "everything you need, nothing you don't".

He also said that "Poco will launch its own product line, its own sales team and its own marketing team." For now, Poco will continue to take advantage of the brand recognition built up by Xiaomi.

The brand is initially only aiming to sell online, although it is also open to offline sales. This will be driven by time and trends. Manmohan stated that Poco will no longer sell its products through Xiaomi's exclusive Mi Home stores. In other words (as you can see on mi.com) he plans to completely separate branding and sales. There will be no Poco on the shelves in Mi Home and Mi Store stores, only by individual agreement (contract). Mostly independent webshops (Flipkart, Gerbest...) will also be able to see Poco X2.

C Manmohan said also confirmed, that POCO continues its philosophy of offering good value for money. All this without anticipating this year's market trends, pricing and future models. In addition, he did not completely refute reports that several Poco phones are currently under development, with more models expected to be launched in the near future.

On 4 February, it was also revealed that Poco had ended production of the F1 model with the launch of the X2.
