At the beginning of 2020, a Article about Xiaomi's two new robot vacuum cleaners. The two new models are now available in Hungary, and the first to be added to the Xiaomishop online store is the new range of vacuum cleaners manufactured with new partners. If you look at the specs of the two models, you can see that the pricing is below the price of competing models, while a 24-month warranty and Hungarian support are also provided.

The two models are no longer manufactured by Roborock for Xiaomi, the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop Version Dreame, while the Mi Robot Vacuum-Mop Pro Viomi product.
Dreame has so far mainly produced cordless handheld vacuum cleaners and hair dryers like the Dyson. Based on my research, this is their first robotic vacuum cleaner, which at first glance seems to be pretty good.

The detailed presentation you can find it here, I'm just sharing some recent information, which will be covered in a later test:

- The wearing parts of the two models (main brush, side brush, HEPA filter) are not compatible with each other or with previous models. They are expected to be available in March, until then you can use the supplied accessories, as they need to be replaced on average every 6 months.

- The Mop Pro (also) already supports the virtual wall in software, it does not react to the physical magnetic tape at all, so it cannot be used if you bought it before, and it is pointless to buy it afterwards.

- Smart charging is supported by both, if the charge is low while cleaning, it goes back to the dock and then continues its work by charging the 80%.

- Although the Mop Pro looks quite competitive with the Roborock S5 Max (or S6) models on specifications alone, the price difference is certainly reflected in the real-world performance. In terms of software, the Mop Pro has been scaled back so as not to be a real competitor to the Roborock models. That doesn't make the Mop Pro bad, it just doesn't do as much.

[UPDATE]

- And at the end, a question on everyone's mind: "Are you going up on the black carpet?"

Unfortunately, a quick test shows that none of the new models like the black carpet, so they can't get on/off it (you have to do a trick with gluing the lower sensors - white paper or glue). Also, a threshold of 2cm or slightly higher will work on both models.

The In summer 2020, Mop received an update to its software, which now includes a virtual wall, no-go zone and zone cleaning. Although laser mapping is omitted in this model, we can still use the pixel-based - zoomed-out - map. Especially after installing the latest software.

The Mop Pro does its job surprisingly well, although it doesn't like the old sharp and high threshold, the unlocking is probably more efficient than with the S50/S55 models.

Where do we recommend?

- A Mop cheaper models require light during cleaning, so cannot be used in total darkness. It is recommended for tidy, less crowded small to medium sized homes with low thresholds, no black carpeting, and should be stored away before use, taking care to avoid loose cables and sooty furniture shelves.

- A Mop Pro produces a more detailed map, can handle larger apartments and is excellent at mapping. Selective cleaning is excellent, although if it gets stuck and can't produce a full map, it can't go into the missed room on its own, only with help. A tiny but all the more silly solution, which the manufacturer couldn't have meant seriously:
Like the first-generation Xiaomi vacuum cleaner, Viomi has built the charging socket into the back of the vacuum cleaner. This is fine as long as you don't use the mop. However, if we are using the mop and the vacuum is done, the mop holder can be detached from the back by removing it from the charging dock, i.e. disconnecting the charging. The Roborock S50/S55 charges from the front, so you can disconnect the mop with the water tank from the back while charging. This is important because leaving the wet mop on the bottom of the vacuum cleaner will slow down the drying process, the floor underneath will be wet and the detergent may smell. It is recommended to wash and dry the mop after each mopping!
It won't go on a black carpet either.
