Today, Xiaomi held its "Smarter Life" launch in India. Among others, the Mi Band 3, Mi Air Purifier 2S, Mi Suitcase 20/24 and three types of Mi TVs were unveiled in India.

The whole presentation was good, although for a long time it was uninteresting and boring for us, as the International version of the Mi Band 3 is already out, and the first ones are slowly arriving in the country, the suitcase is already out and the air filter is not new, the corresponding Mi Home plugin is also available in English. No but Mi TVs are here! So far, these devices have only come with Chinese PatchWall software and an Android platform, with a rather Eastern-specific setup and availability. There was no Google stuff on them, just what the Eastern culture demands: hundreds of Chinese movies, shows, contests, videos, other content, a store and much more. Of course, we could have hacked the system to make some of the basic menu a bit English and have a Google Play store, but who wanted that with all the tic-tac-toe-toe-toe text? In 2014, the MIUI Hungary team even tried to get the whole system translated, with little success.

Xiaomi will first release these devices with the new system in India:

  • Mi LED TV 4C PRO (32-inch)
  • Mi LED TV 4 PRO (55-inch)
  • Mi LED Tv 4A PRO (49-inch)

These will be available on the web platforms in the country from 9 and 10 October 2018, so we can expect to see a significant change in Mi TV systems only after that.

The latest Android TV 8.0 with Chromecast support and Google Play Store.

Built-in Google voice search!

Dedicated Google Voice search button on the remote controls, so not only have they made software improvements, but these TVs will now come with a Global Version sticker. So they can come to Europe!!! :D

Mi TV 4C Pro with HD support ~ $57.165
Mi TV 4A Pro with HDR and Full HD support ~ 114.335 Ft
Mi TV 4 Pro 4.9 mm thin and 4K support ~ 190.560 Ft

Let's hope that these are not the only devices that will get this software, because there are many more TVs, BOXs and Projectors that we would prefer to use not just as an intermediate device, but as a full device. We'll be watching the Mi TV global market from October to see if globalisation starts to happen on this line.
