Back in September last year, Xiaomi unveiled the Xiaomi Civi-t. The device became a big hit in China, with several good features such as a 120 Hz OLED display, 55 W fast charging and an attractive price. Unfortunately, global buyers, including us, were eagerly awaiting this phone, but it didn't make it overseas. Nevertheless, it seems that Xiaomi is already planning a successor.

According to popular Chinese leaker Digital Chat Staion, the Xiaomi Civi 2 is on its way. The new phone will feature Qualcomm's Snapdragon 778G+ SoC, and this will be the biggest difference from its predecessor. The new device will come with MIUI 13. The Xiaomi Civi 2 other specifications remain unchanged. This means that the charging technology, cameras and display are the same. Xiaomi might even keep the original design without major changes.

In terms of performance, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 778G increases CPU and GPU performance by 20 percent over the non-Plus version. There is no official word yet on the Xiaomi Civi 2 release date, but you can expect it in the coming months. The big question is whether it will come to global markets or remain a China-exclusive smartphone line.

The Xiaomi Civi 2 retains the 6.55-inch Full HD+ OLED display of its predecessor. It also features a 120 Hz refresh rate and Gorilla Glass 5 protection. The phone has a 32 MP front-facing camera. On the back, there's a 64 MP main camera, an 8 MP ultra-wide lens and a 2 MP macro camera.

Under the hood, the upcoming Xiaomi Civi 2 brings the Snapdragon 778G+ with up to 12 GB LPDDR4X RAM and up to 256 GB UFS 2.2 storage. The phone comes with a 4500 mAh battery with 55 W fast charging. It also gets an in-display fingerprint scanner.

There are also rumours suggesting the release of the Xiaomi Civi Pro. In the meantime, Xiaomi is steadily lowering the price of the original Civi, hinting at a successor in the near future.
