How can Xiaomi's smart home reduce your bills? How can we use less electricity with devices that already consume electricity? It's a fair question. But I have ideas on how to do it and I'll write them down. Here's how Xiaomi smart homes can cut your bills.

First of all, I'm going to gather what we need to build a smart home.

Wow, that's a lot of things, but it's not all that can save you money on electricity. But fortunately only two of these devices are connected to the mains, the central unit and the burner. In terms of power consumption, the hub consumes less than 5 W per hour, so it won't be the device that keeps the clock ticking. The bulb, when running at full brightness, consumes 9 W. So we're already 14 W minus. If we only have one bulb going all day, but more than that, we'll have a bigger reduction in energy bills.

Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Hub (the central unit)

The hub, or central unit, is the soul of the whole smart home. This is where all the information comes in and controls everything. Through it we can control, program and automate our devices. Without it, the whole thing is worthless.

Xiaomi Mi Door and Window sensor

It is a two-part sensor. One must be placed on the doorjamb and the other on the door, so that they are side by side when closed, within 1 cm of each other. This way the sensor will know whether the door is open or closed. Or a window.

Xiaomi Mi Wireless Switch (wireless switch)

The switch, like the door sensor, is battery-operated, which you can always check in the Xiaomi Home app. So it's a wireless switch that you can put anywhere, you can stick it on the wall, on the door, on a cupboard, or just hang it on the nightstand.

Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Body Sensor (motion sensor)

Now that's a more serious sensor than the others. It detects the movement of the human body and sends a signal to the central unit. It works all the time, day and night, so it's not affected by light.

Xiaomi Mi Light Detection Sensor

As the name suggests, it is a light sensor. So it monitors the amount of light and can decide if it's daytime, evening, dawn, dusk, etc.

Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb Essential (smart bulb)

It's currently the best smart glow in the home. Everything can be adjusted, brightness, light colour, warm or cool white and can be switched on and off with power and app. Very useful!

Yeelight Aurora Lightstrip Plus (smart LED strip)

Yeelight provides the LED bulbs for the Xiaomi smart home. Self-adhesive, 2-meter LED ribbon in RGB colors, can be operated remotely and with its own switch.

Xiaomi Mi Motion-Activated Night Light 2 (motion-activated night light)

And finally, the motion-sensing night light, which is a bit of a cuckoo's egg compared to the above, because it can work on its own. But it can be integrated into the smart home, but it's not absolutely necessary.

Recession reduction

So let's see how we can reduce our bills and use less electricity with the above tools. First, let's take the Xiaomi Mi Motion-Activated Night Light 2-more. Now you only need a battery, not mains voltage. So it doesn't consume anything. But what is it good for? Well, if you wake up at night and go to the bathroom, you don't need to burn expensive lamps, it comes on automatically and its soft light helps you find your way. Or it can light up darker rooms, pantries, closets, hallways, attics, etc.

The Xiaomi Mi Door and Window sensor will also be very useful for us. Not only that, but it also provides us with security, it also has a role to play in switching the lights on and off. A Xiaomi Home application, you can set it so that when you leave the room or apartment, it turns off the Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb Essential smart light bulb. Or all of them, if we put them everywhere. But you can also set it to turn on when you open it. If you live alone, this can be very useful, but if you don't, it's just asking for trouble. We'll leave home and the house will go dark and the family will just be grumpy... but they'll be happy about the energy bill reduction.

The Xiaomi Mi Wireless Switch switch, which can be programmed in a more concrete way. You can attach a switch to one or more bulbs. The switch can be programmed not just for a single press, but for a double or triple press. This way you can give it more tasks. One push button bulb on/off switch, two push button warm/cool white or three push button colour change. Or one press kitchen light bulb, two presses daylight bulb, three presses bedroom Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb Essential-is run by. It's a lot of fun.

The Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Body Sensor the most interesting of all. You don't have to press it, it works all by itself. Of course, you also have to program it first to do what the Xiaomi Mi Smart Home Hub (the central unit), if the sensor detects movement. Well. We can put it in any room where Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb Essential provides the light. The bulb turns on when motion is detected, but if no motion is detected for X amount of time, the bulb turns off. Now that's really cool stuff! Any room you're only in temporarily, or just passing through, this three combo unit does it all. But you could also put it on the kitchen counter, but I'd recommend the Yeelight Aurora Lightstrip Plus a led flag to stick to the bottom of the cupboard. The motion sensor should be set so that it only sees us when we step up to the counter. It's a bit of a fiddly job, but if you get it right, it's well worth it and the savings will be real.

And the end of the Xiaomi Mi Light Detection Sensor I bought a light sensor, with good reason, as it is a great help in increasing the reduction of overheads. It can provide very pertinent information for automation, and even the brightness. Because even if the light comes on automatically and the time interval is set, there is not always enough light or dark enough. But then you would be wasting Xiaomi Mi LED Smart Bulb Essential bulb and would eat up the electricity. But if we include the light sensor in the party, then and only then will the truth be revealed. Or the toilet bowl...
