The under-screen fingerprint reader was not invented by Xiaomi and was not the first to be used by them, but by Vivo in January 2018 in the X20 Plus UD. This had to wait until September 2018, until Xiaomi introduced it in the Xiaomi Mi 8 and Redmi in its K30 phones.

The fingerprint reader hidden under the screen is currently the privilege of AMOLED, but Xiaomi/Redmi has been trying to bring the technology under LCD for quite a long time, as the quality of the AMOLED panel is very expensive (see Mi 10), but on LCD it has not been possible to work normally. So far.

All the info about Redmi's Redmi Note 9 series, which has been hyped up for days, has been about the camera, fast charging, etc., but not about what the Pro version will bring. I mean, they have solved the problem of the fingerprint reader under the LCD. Moreover, this video didn't even start from India, where the phone will be unveiled, but from China, from Redmi's official Weibo page. So maybe it's not the Redmi Note 9 Pro that will be used first? We'll find out tomorrow anyway.
