Meta has updated its 3D avatars on Facebook and Messenger, and has also announced that small drawn versions of users will soon be available in Instagram stories and through messages.
New, updated avatars announced the Meta, which users can access on Facebook, Instagram and Messenger. The company promises that the new figures are more lifelike and, with disabled users in mind, they can now be accompanied by devices such as hearing aids and wheelchairs.
The Meta has also taken the upcoming NFL finals into account, as avatars can be dressed in the jerseys of the two teams that made it to the finals.
While the metaverse already has plenty of critics, ever since Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg announced last autumn that he envisioned the company's future in the metaverse, dozens of companies have entered the dubious business of outbidding each other to be the first to create a world that would bring millions, even billions, of people into global virtual reality.
