It is a fact that, like phones from about every manufacturer, Xiaomi phones are getting more expensive. In 2016, the "official" price of a Redmi Note 3 Pro was 65 thousand HUF. I put it in quotes because at that time there were no official Xiaomi phones in Hungary. Today, the official, non-imported Redmi Note 10 Pro in the corner GMS shop costs 120 thousand forints. Of course, the two phones cannot be compared (or do you?), but the bottom line is still visible, the price increase is singularly significant.

For those who don't need a phone with this kind of capability, but especially at this price, there has always been the 'plain' Redmi series, or the cheapest Xiaomi, the Redmi series 'A' variant. The latest addition to this is the Redmi 9A, which has an official price 40 thousand forints. And it's a phone that can be used for basic things, it's the entry-level series, which is far from useless.

Information has emerged about the successor to this device, the Redmi 10A. The Redmi 10 was already announced in May 2020, and the cheapest variant is still to come, but not for much longer. A new device, christened Xiaomi 220233L2C, has been spotted on Geekbench 4's list, revealing some key specs. It could be the Chinese version of the upcoming Redmi 10A, which has already appeared in an IMEI database with model number 220233L2G.

The power of the phone is provided by a MediaTek MT6762G, which corresponds to the Helio G25 SoC. The test phone is the top of the range from this device, as it comes with 4 GB of RAM. The Redmi 10A in the test is running Android 11, let's hope this will be upgraded to Android 12 by launch, after all it's been out for over 4 months now. The device scored 791 points in the single-core test and 3630 points in the multi-core test.

In the meantime, the global Redmi 10A with model number 220233L2G has appeared in the FCC database. The listing reveals that it will come in no less than four variants, 2/32GB, 3/32GB, 3/64GB and 4/128GB.

The phone runs MIUI 12.5 alongside Android 11. On the back, there's a 13 MP and a 2 MP lens. It will also get a fingerprint scanner (new to the Redmi 'A' series), LTE and single-band 2.4GHz Wi-Fi connectivity.

The price and release are still a mystery.
