Xiaomi is known to offer customers good value for money phones, especially in the mid to high end of the market. But... there is also an entry level, which in many cases is still an option. Why? There could be several reasons, for example, the elderly, or even young people, or even ourselves, who may need a secondary phone for calls or business correspondence. In this article, we will look at how much it is worth choosing low-priced models. What are they good for, what are they not, and how durable are they?

Without a personal story, it wouldn't be the real thing, as you might legitimately ask: how do you, sitting in front of your typewriter with your ThaiPhone FX R Premium Max S Pro Ultimate, know how good these phones are?

It's just for the irony, I am using a Redmi Note 5 Pro since 2018, well, if you are already here, you can check my recent article about Android 10, custom roms, and things like that

The first Xiaomi phone I got my hands on back in 2018 was a Redmi 5A. Back then it was around 20.000 HUF, 2GB RAM, 16GB internal storage, 720p display - for that price I think it was worth it. What was it enough for? Almost everything, except VR and games of course. There were no hangs, no freezes, nothing you'd expect or get used to from a crappy oko phone. Because Xiaomi's phones are cheap, not shoddy, this phone is a good combination of iron and casing. Yes, it was not, it still is, because it is still in use today. Even though it has been updated a long time ago, it's no wonder, since it's not a modern phone, and it was already one of the top sellers. However, the custom romos option is still a given here, and it's even possible to see how, through it, in an upcoming article or video. If you don't want to miss it, follow us on Facebook.

Act Two

Then, last year, I found the Redmi 7A on sale in GearBest's online store, which Kornél's very extreme test you can view it here. Yes, the shower video, which is actually a promo for the test, but that's irrelevant now. It arrived, I set it up, and after about 1-1.5 months of use it said...

Well, he didn't say anything. He didn't say a word. I mean, literally, you know, the speaker didn't say anything. But only on the call. It turns out that the ribbon cord of the speakerphone had mysteriously taken flight away from the jack and slipped.

Other than that, it's a fair phone, especially for the price. Updates are still coming, quite quickly, so there was no lack of support in the first year. It's not the fastest machine, I guess for a mid to top-end phone you can feel some slowdown, but you can absolutely get used to it and it's not annoying at all. The battery life is brutal, I mean... well, it doesn't make the Hungarian fallow humming, but it lasts a lot longer without charging than its higher priced citizen counterparts. This is of course also because of the weaker hardware, but battery-wise these phones are really strong.

Game - in a nutshell:

And everything else, on cue

If you don't want to spend a lot, you need a phone for some reason, but you don't want the best, latest phone, just a reliable phone with a long battery life, Xiaomi's entry-level models have what you're looking for. Huhh but that was a marketing-sounding sentence. But really, it's worth checking out these phones, especially since other manufacturers hardly offer this, like this, and for this price. A You can find XiaomiShop here, don't be alarmed by the cases, the searcher thought they met the criteria for some reason :D
