Mi 8 Pro gets an update after a year

The Xiaomi Mi 8 Pro has not yet received the MIUI 12.5 global update, despite the Chinese model having been updated back in November.

The Mi 8 Pro was Xiaomi's top phone of 2018, which hit the shelves with MIUI 9 based on Android 8.1 Oreo. It received two updates: it was upgraded to Android 9 and Android 10. It received 3 MIUI updates, MIUI 10, 11, and 12. MIUI 12.5 is still to come.

After a year of silence, it's now received an update, which doesn't include MIUI 12.5, but does include security improvements and optimizations.

There are two regions where the update is available, one is Global and the other is Russia, so the EEA is still to come.

Theoretically, the phone will receive MIUI 12.5 update sooner or later, the MIUI 12.5 EE update is however highly questionable. What is certain is that MIUI 13 is no longer expected, nor Android 11 and 12.
